Why story replies work
Story replies are warmer than random link taps. Someone saw the moment, reacted, and opened a conversation. Use that moment to send the link, ask one useful question, or route the contact into a follow-up path.
Steps
- 1Open Dashboard, then Automations.
- 2Create a custom workflow.
- 3Choose an Instagram story reply trigger.
- 4Pick the connected Instagram account.
- 5Decide whether the workflow should run for any story reply or only matching keywords.
- 6Add a Send Message step.
- 7Write the DM and attach the Smart link, quick reply, or button you want people to use.
- 8Optional: add a tag or user field so these contacts are easy to find later.
- 9Optional: add an AI Step when replies need product-aware judgment.
- 10Save, test, and publish.
Good uses
- Send a product link after someone replies to a gear, outfit, recipe, or resource story.
- Collect an email after someone asks for a guide.
- Tag people who reply to launch stories.
- Route product questions to an AI agent in review-first mode.
- Start a lightweight follow-up without forcing every viewer through the same bio link.
Watch-outs
- Keep follow-up inside the 24-hour Instagram messaging window unless the contact replies again.
- Do not treat every reaction as purchase intent.
- Use selected keywords when a story is likely to get casual replies.
- Check the inbox after publishing so manual replies and automations do not talk over each other.
