How to use AI inside an automation workflow

Generate a workflow draft from plain English, revise the canvas with AI, add product email follow-ups, or add an AI Step that runs an agent.

Three ways to use AI

  • Generate workflow creates a first draft from a prompt.
  • AI workflow assistant adds or revises canvas steps from plain English.
  • Digital product workflows can start from a purchase or abandoned-cart checkout and send email follow-ups.
  • AI Step runs an assigned agent, attaches it to the conversation, or does both.

Generate a workflow draft

  1. 1Open Dashboard, then Automations.
  2. 2Choose Custom workflow.
  3. 3Write the prompt, like: When someone comments link on my reel, DM them the kids seat link, then tag them as sent.
  4. 4For product emails, try: When someone starts checkout for my guide, wait 2 hours, then email them a reminder.
  5. 5Name the workflow.
  6. 6Choose the connected account for Instagram workflows. Product workflows can use LinkStack.
  7. 7Click Generate workflow.
  8. 8Review the canvas before publishing.

Revise with the AI workflow assistant

  1. 1Open a custom workflow canvas.
  2. 2Select a step first if the new step should append from that point.
  3. 3Click the sparkles button.
  4. 4Keep Append after selected step on when you want the edit attached to that step.
  5. 5Ask for one clear edit, like: wait 5 minutes, send another DM, then tag them as interested.
  6. 6Review the highlighted changes.
  7. 7Run validation and test before publishing.

Add an AI Step

  1. 1On the workflow canvas, click the + button.
  2. 2Choose AI Step.
  3. 3Pick an existing agent, or click New to create one.
  4. 4Choose the action: Reply now + keep agent on, Keep agent on, or Reply once.
  5. 5Add a Goal when the step needs a specific instruction.
  6. 6Add Context when the agent should know why the workflow reached this step.
  7. 7Save, validate, and test the workflow.

Watch-outs

  • Use an active, published agent before expecting a live automation to run it.
  • Keep permanent rules in the agent, not only in the workflow step.
  • Use Review first until the agent has handled enough real-looking tests.
  • Review Queue catches AI Step drafts that need approval.
