How to create an email flow

Build a timed email sequence, write messages inline, and open the same flow in the automation workflow editor.

An outgoing email message.

Choose what starts the flow

  1. 1Open Email → Flows and select New email flow.
  2. 2Name the flow and choose After a product purchase, After cart abandonment, On a specific date, or When a tag is added.
  3. 3For purchase or cart flows, choose a digital product or leave Any digital product selected. Checkout recovery starts from a checkout event and waits at least one minute; its default wait is two hours.
  4. 4For a tag trigger, choose the audience tag. Adding the tag to a subscribed contact starts the sequence; contacts already carrying the tag are not enrolled retroactively.
  5. 5For a specific date, choose all email subscribers or a tag, then set a future date and time. The displayed time zone is your browser's local time zone.

Add your emails

  1. 1Select the first email in the sequence and set its timing after the trigger. Zero sends immediately; cart recovery requires a wait.
  2. 2Choose a built-in automation email template or one of Your templates, or leave Start from scratch selected and write inline.
  3. 3Write a subject, optional inbox preview, and message. The rich text editor supports formatting, images, links, AI writing, and Personalize tokens.
  4. 4Preview email shows sample customer details. Product and order tokens need a purchase or checkout event. When using offer tokens, select the featured product.
  5. 5Choose Save as a new template to reuse the message later. Editing an email step does not overwrite its source template.
  6. 6Select Add email for each follow-up. Later timing is relative to the previous email. Use the arrow buttons to reorder emails or Remove email to delete a step. A flow supports up to 40 emails and up to 365 days per delay.

Save and publish

  1. 1Save draft to keep the sequence without changing what is live.
  2. 2Before publishing, save sender details under Settings → Email and check that recipients are subscribed.
  3. 3Publish flow starts new matching enrollments. Existing runs keep the published version they started with. Publish changes applies edits to new enrollments.
  4. 4Use Pause to stop new enrollments. The automation runtime continues to own the flow's runs and delivery behavior.
  • A specific-date flow snapshots eligible subscribers the first time the automation scheduler processes the due date. Processing may take several scheduler passes for a large audience. Later subscribers are not added to that snapshot.
  • Republishing the same scheduled trigger and date does not repeat enrollment. Choose a new future date to run it again. Changing the audience after enrollment has started does not rebuild the existing snapshot.
  • Delivery rechecks subscription and suppression state. Abandoned checkout emails are skipped after the order is paid or refunded.

Add branches and advanced options

  1. 1Select Open workflow editor. LinkStack saves the draft and opens that same automation on the workflow canvas.
  2. 2Add conditions, branches, contact actions, or other supported workflow steps. Use the workflow editor's validation and testing tools before publishing.
  3. 3Use Back to email flow to return. Linear email sequences can still use the simple editor; advanced graphs remain in the workflow editor so every setting is preserved.
  4. 4If another editor has changed the flow, reload before saving to avoid overwriting its changes.
