Email and Broadcasts
How to send emails from your own domain
Connect your email domain, add DNS records, and send broadcasts and automated emails from your business email address.
Table of contents
Before you start
Connecting your domain lets recipients see an address such as hello@yourbusiness.com in the From field. LinkStack sends on your behalf through its email provider, Resend. You do not need a Resend account or to share your inbox password.
- Custom email senders are included in Growth for accounts invited to the current pilot. If Connect your own domain is missing, contact LinkStack support to check availability.
- Use a domain you control and an existing email address where you can receive replies. Connecting the domain does not create a mailbox or move your inbox to LinkStack.
- You or your domain manager will need access to the domain’s DNS settings. DNS records tell email services that LinkStack is allowed to send for your domain.
- One custom domain and one active custom sender are supported per account. Email domain setup is separate from connecting a domain to your bio page.
- Your mailing address is still required in the email footer. Connecting a domain does not change your plan’s email-volume allowance.
1. Add your sender name and email
You can leave and return to finish setup. Opening setup from a broadcast editor keeps the draft in its original tab.
- 1Open Settings → Email, expand Email configuration, and choose Connect your own domain. You can also open setup from the Broadcasts page or a broadcast editor.
- 2Enter the sender name your subscribers will recognize and an email address on your domain, such as hello@yourbusiness.com. LinkStack finds the domain from the part after @.
- 3Check the sender preview, including the From address and where replies will go. Choose Continue to save your details and see the DNS records.
2. Add the DNS records
Do this where your domain’s DNS is managed. This may be a different service from your website builder or the company where you bought the domain.
- 1Choose your DNS provider in LinkStack for its instructions. If it is not listed, leave My domain provider selected and open the DNS or Manage DNS area in your provider’s account.
- 2Create each record shown in LinkStack. Match its Type, copy its Name and Value, and enter Priority when shown. Use your provider’s automatic or default TTL unless its instructions say otherwise.
- 3Check whether your provider adds the domain to the Name field automatically. If LinkStack shows send.yourbusiness.com and your provider appends .yourbusiness.com, enter only send. Do not add the domain twice.
- 4Save all the records. Keep existing records for your website and inbox. If a record conflicts with an existing one, ask your domain manager or support before replacing it.
- Use the exact records in your LinkStack setup, not records copied from another service or account. Their types and number can vary.
- On Cloudflare, CNAME records for email authentication must use DNS only, with the proxy turned off.
- An MX record shown for a sending subdomain handles delivery feedback. Add it at the exact Name shown; do not replace the root MX records that deliver mail to your existing inbox.
3. Check the connection and activate your sender
Saving the email address or seeing Connected does not activate it by itself. Previously scheduled emails keep their saved sender.
- 1Return to LinkStack and choose Check connection. Each record shows whether it is verified or still waiting.
- 2If some records are still waiting, you can leave the page. LinkStack keeps checking in the background. DNS changes can take up to 72 hours to become visible.
- 3When the connection shows Connected, choose Use this address under Ready to send. This activates the sender for newly scheduled broadcasts and new automation deliveries.
4. Test your sender and start gradually
Start with a small group of subscribers who expect your emails, then increase sending gradually. Watch for bounces and complaints before sending to a larger audience. A verified domain helps authenticate your emails, but does not guarantee inbox placement.
- 1Save your mailing-address details in Email configuration if you have not already. This is separate from domain verification.
- 2Choose Send myself a test. The test goes to the email address on your LinkStack account.
- 3Open the message and check the displayed sender, From address, Reply-to, and footer. Check spam or junk if you do not see it in your inbox.
Using Gmail, Yahoo, or another personal address
You cannot connect gmail.com, yahoo.com, or another provider’s shared domain as your own. An address on your own domain can still qualify if Google Workspace or another provider hosts its inbox.
- 1Enter your name and personal email in sender setup.
- 2Choose Use LinkStack’s sending address instead, then Use this sender. No DNS setup is needed.
- Recipients see your sender name with LinkStack’s sending address in the From field. Replies go to the personal inbox you entered.
- The preview shows the actual From and Reply-to addresses before you activate the sender.
If your domain will not connect
- Waiting for record: confirm that every record was saved at the provider that manages your DNS. Partial verification means some records still need to become visible; it is not ready to activate yet.
- Needs attention: compare Type, Name, Value, and Priority with LinkStack. Look for a duplicated domain in the Name field, a missing record, or a Cloudflare proxy that is still on.
- Still waiting after 72 hours: ask your domain manager to check the records, or contact LinkStack support with the domain and the displayed error. Never send passwords or API keys.
- Already connected: a domain reserved by another LinkStack account or Resend team cannot be moved automatically. Contact support before changing its existing setup.
- Setup link unavailable: ask the account owner for a fresh link. Links can expire, be replaced, or be revoked.
- Connected but not used: choose Use this address. Existing scheduled emails keep their previous sender; check a newly scheduled broadcast after activation.
- Sending stopped after connection: reconnect and verify the original domain if it was disconnected or lost verification. Affected queued emails stop with an error rather than silently switch to another address.
